Introduction to NICE Information Tools
The National Initiative for the Care of the Elderly has compiled a series of Information Tools based on multiple research studies focused on understanding life challenges as people age. Over 20 years, the research agenda was supported by National and International grant funding obtained and directed by Dr. Lynn McDonald, NICE Scientific Director, and research community members. The Information Tools were first available as glossy printed brochures displayed in doctors' offices, retirement homes, municipal offices, outreach centers, churches, and other places supporting older adults. Now, we are updating the tools and making them accessible in various formats, including podcasts, web pages, eNewsletters, social media, and print. The information tools for older adults and their caregivers are accessible on smartphones, tablets, and desktops.
Topics covered include caregiving, end-of-life, elder abuse, addictions, finance, legal issues, and mental and physical health. We constantly seek new, innovative ways to distribute Information Tools. Recently, we launched our Deep Dive "Audio Overviews," which uses AI to summarize our Information Tools in a conversational, podcast-like format. To stay updated on new information tools, follow us on Facebook and Twitter or subscribe to our Podcast or eNewsletter. We value your input and are always open to new ideas and suggestions. We encourage you to get in touch if you have any ideas for new tools or suggestions for updates. You can access the Information Tools on our website at https://www.nicenet.ca.
